Mission
I create art and make it freely accessible to all, dismantling economic barriers to ensure that creativity remains a universal, shared human experience. I believe visual storytelling should be a shared resource that unites, inspires, and brings joy.
Behind the Camera
Early on, I showed my artwork in group exhibits and even sold a few pieces. However, I quickly realized that path was not mine to take. I did not feel a sense of belonging in an art world that places a premium on prestige, competition, and commercial gain. Instead, my drive to create has always come from within -- a pursuit of personal fulfillment and self-satisfaction. To make room for new work, I simply gave my original pieces away to family and friends. Because of this, I was never influenced by external pressures like popularity, commercial trends, praise, or criticism. I was incredibly fortunate that financial considerations never dictated my art.
As I reach the end of my seventh decade, I realize there is a third "why" to my creative need: to leave my art and stories to future generations, entirely free and readily accessible. The internet should be the perfect medium for disseminating free art to the world. Yet, much to my dismay, the half-dozen website designers I contacted all had the same reaction: “Why would you ever want to build a website that wasn’t going to make you money?” They wanted anywhere from $2,000 to $20,000 to design a site based on a concept they fundamentally disagreed with. That is when it hit me. The modern internet isn’t primarily about sharing vision, ideas, or accomplishments; it is a marketplace first and foremost.
This website represents a complete departure from that commercial reality. Ultimately, I chose not to hire anyone. Instead, I found a sustainable, no-cost content builder and a free template. There are no monthly hosting fees or corporate server subscriptions. I simply invested my own time to research and design the site myself. I pay less than $2 a month for a custom domain -- my only cost to secure a clean, non-commercial digital address where people can find my work without wading through addictive social media algorithms.
It was actually quite easy, and it is something anyone can do. It might not have all the bells and whistles of a custom-designed commercial site, but it is mine. In a way, the site itself is just another piece of free artwork from me to you.
And so, the mission remains intact.
